Trek with the company that takes climbers to the summit
Introduction
One of the most famous treks in the world takes you into the thin air of the Nepalese Himalaya. Our slower ascent rate and high Sherpa: team member ratio, boosts your enjoyment of the magnificent high-mountain scenery. Along the way there's a chance to soak up local food and culture and you'll sleep in traditional, warm and friendly tea houses run by Sherpa families.Jagged Globe has been organising treks to Everest Base Camp since 1993, when we became the first British company to lead an expedition to the summit of Everest. Our base camp itinerary is at least one day longer than most treks, giving you more time to acclimatise. You may also consider our Everest 3 Peaks 3 Passes trek.
Join us on the Everest Base Camp trek
- Sunrise from Kala Pattar, with views of Everest
- 3 nights in Namche Bazaar. More Acclimatisation = More Success
- Experienced and qualified Sherpa guides, provide a ratio of 1:3
- Emergency equipment includes oxygen for therapeutic use, Portable Hyperbaric Chamber (PAC) and Satellite Communicator (either phone or InReach).
- Stay in lodges "Tea Houses" rather than camping
What to expect
Our Everest Base Camp Trek is suitable for keen walkers who are able to walk on rocky trails for 4 - 5 hours in a day, with a light rucksack. Our itinerary is designed to provide more acclimatisation than standard itineraries, thus reducing the chance of altitude sickness.Read our Training for Trekking and Hiking article by Steve House of Uphill Athlete.

| Day 4: | Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding It's a 10-minute walk from Freedom Resort to the airport. You will take an early morning flight to the airstrip at Lukla, the gateway to Nepal's famous Khumbu region. Trek to Phakding. Overnight lodge. |
| Day 5: | Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,400m) Enter the Khumbu National Park and cross the confluence of the Dudh Kosi and the Bhote Kosi. You climb steeply for about two hours up 'Namche Hill' to reach Namche Bazaar. This is a prosperous trading town and the capital of the Khumbu Region. Overnight lodge. |
| Day 6 - 7: | Acclimatisation in Namche Bazaar (3,400m) You will spend three nights in Namche Bazaar to allow you to slowly acclimatise. During this period you trek to the Everest View Hotel (3,900m) and to Thame (3,844m), where Tenzing Norgay grew up. Most trekkers spend just two nights in Namche before continuing up the trail, but in our experience this additional night greatly increases you chance of reaching base camp without a head ache! |
| Day 8: | Trek to Deboche (3,700m) From Namche, the well-worn Everest trail contours around the side of the valley high above the Dudh Kosi. You cross the Dudh Kosi and make a steep climb to Thyangboche, home of a famous monastery. From here you drop down to the river and the village of Deboche. Overnight lodge. |
| Day 9: | Trek to Dingboche (4,410m) Trek through rhododendron to Pangboche, an excellent viewpoint for Ama Dablam. The trail then contours up the valley side and turns up the Imja Valley to reach the picturesque farming village of Dingboche. Overnight lodge. |
| Day 10: | Acclimatisation in Dingboche (4,410m) You can walk over to the nearby village of Pheriche, which has a hospital run by the Himalayan Rescue Association. Return to Dingboche for the night. Overnight lodge. |
| Day 11: | Trek to Lobuje (4,940m) Trek back through Pheriche and continue up the broad valley bottom towards Dugla. From Dugla, the trail starts steeply to climb up beside the glacial moraine and after a few hours it leads to Lobuje. Overnight lodge. |
| Day 12: | Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,600m) via Gorak Shep (5,220m) Gorak Shep, the site of the 1953 expedition's base camp, is 3 hours beyond Lobuje. You'll drop bags here and continue to base camp in about 1 hour 40 minutes. If visiting in the spring, you go to a team's Base Camp for lunch. Return to Gorak Shep for the night. Overnight lodge. |
| Day 13: | Climb Kalar Pattar (5,550m) or 2nd opportunity to go to Everest Base Camp (5,600m). You make an ascent of Kala Pattar in the morning for the best light and views of Everest. If you didn't walk to Everest Base Camp yesterday, you can do so today. Descend to Lobuje. Overnight lodge. |
| Day 14 - 16: | Return trek to Lukla Descend back down the Khumbu Valley via Pangboche and Namche. Overnight lodges. Option of flying to Lukla via Helicopter and onwards to Kathmandu by fixed-wing, for additional cost (must be booked for and paid in advance). |
| Day 17: | Fly Lukla to Ramechhap Return drive to Kathmandu. Overnight hotel. |
| Day 18: | At Leisure in Kathmandu A chance to explore the bustling capital, with its beautiful temples and bustling markets. Overnight hotel. |
| Day 19: | Fly home Airport transfer. For those joining "land-only", you should book your flight home today. |
IMPORTANT NOTE: Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary, but as this is adventure travel in a remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it! Weather conditions, availability of porters and the health of team members can all contribute to changes. The guides and their Sherpa assistants will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if necessary.

Team Member Reviews
- “
The team in the office could not have been more helpful. From start to finish, nothing was too much trouble and even when my flight schedules were interrupted and changed by the airline, office staff did everything they could at very short notice to ensure that I had transfers and accommodation in Kathmandu.
